MCI USA FILES FOR CHAPTER 11

Motor Coach Industries (MCI), Schaumburg, Ill., a manufacturer of buses and bus-related aftermarket parts and services, announced it has filed for pre-negotiated Chapter 11 bankruptcy. MCI said it has reached agreement with its secured lenders regarding a restructuring that will substantially reduce the company's debt.

The name of VDL Bus International has been altered to VDL Bus Chassis. This name change is the next step in the further elaboration of the VDL Bus & Coach group. This new name clearly underlines the role of VDL Bus Chassis as the chassis specialist within VDL Bus & Coach.

From 01st January 2009 Dr. Jörg Willert (45) will be taking charge of the Bus Development division at MAN Nutzfahrzeuge. In this capacity he succeeds Ernö Bartha, who will continue to advise MAN in the transitional phase and then join Viseon Bus GmbH.
VDL POSITIVE DESPITE DROP IN SALES

In the first half of 2008, the VDL Groep has achieved a combined turnover of €908m (2007: €941m), a decrease of 3.5% compared to the same period last year. After taxation, the figure was €S39.2m, lower than the first half of last year's €S51.1m.
