FIVE MERCEDES-BENZ CAPACITY BUSES IN SERVICE IN TÜBINGEN
Private carrier Omnibus Groß GmbH, based in the German town of Rottenburg am Neckar, became the first private bus and coach company in Germany to put the Mercedes-Benz CapaCity high-capacity bus into service. Just two weeks later, on 11 December 2008, four further Mercedes-Benz CapaCity models were handed over to Jakob Kocher GmbH in Tübingen. The five buses, all of which will serve the town of Tübingen, could have a lasting effect on future urban transport concepts.
MERCEDES-BENZ: HUNDRED ADDITIONAL CAPACITY BUSES FOR ISTANBUL

The Turkish transport operator Istanbul Elektrik Tramvay ve Tünel Isletmeleri (IETT) and the Daimler subsidiary EvoBus GmbH has granted Evobus subsidiary Mercedes-Benz a second contract for the supply of 100 Mercedes-Benz CapaCity buses for the city of Istanbul. IETT had already ordered 50 CapaCity buses in mid-2007, and a further 100 buses soon followed during the current year. The most recently ordered buses will expand the fleet to 250 Mercedes-Benz CapaCity buses operating in the Istanbul BRT system next year. Another 500 Mercedes-Benz Citaro solo and articulated buses are also in operation in the region.
MORE BRT SYSTEMS TO COME TO INDIA

The Indian government has decided that nine cities will be getting a BRT system to increase the capacity of the local public transport. The nine cities include Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, Indore, Bhopal, Pune, Jaipur, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. The BRT systems are considered to be a crucial tool to provide smooth and affordable transport.
FIFTY WRIGHTBUS NEW STREETCAR RTV VEHICLES FOR SOUTHERN NEVADA

The Irish bus builder Wright Group, based in Ballymena, has booked an order for 50 Streetcar RTV vehicles which will go into operation on the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Southern Nevada's ACE Downtown Connector service. The order has a value of $55m, the vehicles have been specially adapted to the client’s needs.
TWELVE CONTRAC COBUS 3000 BUSES FOR DELHI AIRPORT

German airport bus manufacturer Contrac Cobus has received an order of 15 CNG-powered buses Cobus 3000 vehicles from the Delhi airport authorities. These buses can accommodate up to 112 passenger, which is significantly more than the number of people that can be accommodated in the buses currently used at the Delhi airport. The new buses are expected to improve the traffic flow and ease congestion near the runways.
