Gillig LLC, a national transit bus manufacturer, now offers the Vanner Hybrid Beltless Alternator (HBA) as standard equipment on its hybrid buses. The Vanner HBA replaces the alternator and the associated pulleys and belts.

Today’s hybrid systems have addressed the propulsion technology leap necessary to reduce fuel consumption that powers buses. Vanner Inc., headquartered in Hilliard, Ohio, developed a technology to increase power efficiency and reduce operational and maintenance costs with the introduction of the Vanner Hybrid Beltless Alternator (HBA).

At this year's eSafety Challenge, which was held in Vienna during late May and early June, Bridgestone Corp. presented and demonstrated two new tire pressure monitoring systems it has developed, one of them being meant for among others buses and coaches.

BAE SYSTEMS REPORTS MORE THAN 3,500 HYBRIDRIVE SERIES HYBRID SYSTEMS DELIVERED WORLDWIDE

BAE Systems announced that its HybriDrive series hybrid electric propulsion system has more than 3,500 units delivered or ordered worldwide. The HybriDrive series hybrid electric system consists of a diesel-powered generator, an electric motor, and an energy storage system. The system also uses no mechanical transmission, a significant maintenance item on conventional diesel buses. Buses equipped with HybriDrive series have travelled more than 300 million miles, prevented more than 280,000 tons of CO2 emissions and have saved more than 25 million gallons of diesel fuel.

IVECO/IRISBUS LAUNCH EURO 6 ENGINES

The new low-emission Cursor 11 diesel engine from Iveco and Fiat Powertrain Technologies meets Euro-6 without EGR. The development comes from FPT Industrial's SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) technology, which will be introduced on the two new Cursor and Tector engine ranges for heavy-duty trucks and buses.
