ANTONOV DEVELOPING 2-SPEED ALTERNATOR FOR HEAVY-DUTY VEHICLES
UK-based Antonov has been increasing its commercial engineering activities in parallel with becoming a high volume transmission manufacturer. The company recently secured a 2-speed heavy-duty alternator project, and is in the design phase of work on a high-efficiency 3-speed transmission for electric vehicles. Both engineering projects have the potential for series production, Antonov says.
ALLISON OPENS MANUFACTURING FACILITY IN CHENNAI, INDIA
Allison Transmission, Inc. announced the opening of a new multi-purpose operations facility in Chennai, India. The opening of the Chennai operations facility helps Allison Transmission to expand its global footprint as well as its presence in India, where demand for Allison’s fully automatic transmissions is steadily growing. City transit bus and off-highway construction vehicles equipped with a broad range of Allison products are presently in service throughout India and are rapidly growing in numbers. In addition, the company is seeing increasing interest from Indian OEM’s for additional On- and Off-Highway vehicle applications for Allison transmissions.
NEW ALLISON T390 AND T390R BUS TRANSMISSIONS FEATURE SHIFT ENERGY MANAGEMENT
Direct control of engine torque through Shift Energy Management enables increased torque rating for buses with no increase in weight or size providing. Allison Transmission announced the addition of new T390 and T390R models to the proven Torqmatic Series of fully automatic transmissions for bus applications during the 2010 Shanghai Busworld exhibition. These latest models use a high level of powertrain integration to enhance torque capacity, durability, shift quality and economy. To support a continuing trend for ever increasing engine power and torque, Allison is implementing Shift Energy Management (SEM) to dynamically manage torque through the transmission.
ISE CORP INTRODUCES NEXT-GENERATION CNG HYBRID SYSTEM FOR TRANSIT BUSES
San Diego, California-based ISE Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of ISE Limited, announced it will begin accepting orders for its next-generation, battery-dominant CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) Hybrid System for transit buses with production units expected to be available in 2011. The next-generation CNG Hybrid System maximizes proven technology already in production in hundreds of ISE Hybrid Systems on roads today
VOITH EXPANDS IN TURKEY
In Turkey, the Conecto series from EvoBus will in the future be driven through Voith's DIWA.5 transmissions. Up to now, the German gearbox manufacturer only offered the DIWA.3e transmissions for the EvoBus singledeckers, including the Conecto G and Conecto Solo models.
