NATEX SELLS LONDON BUS BUSINESS
National Express is pulling out of London for the second time. She has reached an agreement to sell its Travel London business to NedRailways, a subsidiary of NS Dutch Railways. The agreement is subject to the consent of Transport for London.
DAIMLER RESTRUCTURES MITSUBISHI FUSO
Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), one of Asia’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers and an integral part of Daimler Trucks, has announced a major realignment of its operations to address structural changes in the company’s business and markets. Japan remains MFTBC’s most important market, but the Japanese commercial vehicle market is experiencing a long-term downward trend with growth potential shifting to developing economies.
PLASTISOL UK BUYS TVAC ASSETS
Dutch-based Plastisol, manufacturer of complete plastic bodies which were among others used as a basic body on the TVAC Eclipse low floor minibus, has set up a new UK company Plastisol UK Ltd which has bought the assets of TVAC, which went into administration late last year. The new company will be based at Chorley, Lancashire.
WILL RENAULT SELL ITS VOLVO STAKE TO THE WALLENBERGS?
Rumours surrounding the French car manufacturer Renault and its stake in AB Volvo, whose largest single shareholder she is with a 21.8% stake, suggest that Renault might sell this stake to the Wallenberg family and their investment vehicle Investor AB, till last year owners of a large stake in Scania. This suggestion was published recently by the Swedish business magazine Veckans Affarer.
EVOBUS USES PHOTOVOLYAICS TO GENERATE ENERGY
Evobus Neu-Ulm plant has taken into use an 18,000-square-meter photovoltaic system mounted on the roof of the assembly building. The photovoltaic system is a joint undertaking of Stadtwerke Ulm/Neu-Ulm GmbH, Phoenix Solar AG, and EvoBus GmbH. This joint project counts as a remarkable example of cooperation between the public sector and the industry.
