MOU ON DELHI INFRASTRUCTURE AND IT SYSTEMS

UK-headquartered TRL and Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enable future collaboration and knowledge-sharing. DIMTS is a joint venture company set up with equal equity of the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) and Infrastructure Development Finance Company (IDFC). They specialise in urban transport and infrastructure services, aiming to develop and deliver world class urban infrastructure to the citizens of Delhi.
DUTCH GOVERNMENT TO SUBSIDISE FILLING STATIONS FOR ALTERNATIVE FUEL

The Dutch Ministry of Traffic and Waterways and lower governmental institutions like provinces, regions and municipalities have decided to subsidise the installation of new filling stations for alternative fuel like biogas, ethanol (E85) and biodiesel (B30) to an amount of nearly 3,6 million euro. The largest part of this amount will be going to the erection of 53 filling points for biogas. Besides, some filling stations for E85 and B30 will be subsidized.
USA BUS IMPROVEMENT FUNDS

The US government is making $775million available to the nation’s transport operators to upgrade their bus systems. “The Federal Transit Administration is addressing the challenge of bringing our nation’s transit systems into a state of good repair head-on,” says transportation secretary Ray LaHood. “These funds will get us started, but we still have a long way to go.”
MERCEDES DO BRASIL TO SUPPLY BRT UNITS TO BRAZIL

The Brazilian subsidiary of German vehicle manufacturer Mercedes-Benz is looking to supply a large number of units for various Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) schemes due to be implemented in Brazil in time for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The country's Transport Ministry is planning to invest US$4.21 billion in the construction of BRT infrastructure for the tournament, including designated lanes, bus stops and integration with other transport systems.
HO CHI MINH CITY PLANS BRT SYSTEM

During a seminar organised in Vietnam to discuss creating a rapid transit network in Ho Chi Minh City, delegates proposed that the city needs a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system which would lower air pollution and operate at faster speeds than normal buses. At least five years and US$5 million for each km is needed to create the BRT system.
