  Volvo Buses will be launching its new Volvo 7900 city bus at the coming Busworld trade show in Kortrijk. Among numerous features, it is lighter, which will generate even less fuel consumption and the possibility to transport more passengers. For most bus operators, buses with the lowest possible lifecycle costs are the most important. Consequently, this was highest on Volvo Buses’ list when the new low-floor Volvo 7900 buses were developed.

MITSUBISHI FUSO LAUNCHES ENHANCED AERO ACE MM BUS

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) has launched a redesigned version of the Aero Ace MM bus. Designed for sightseeing and inter-city transportation, the Aero Ace MM, first launched in January 2008, is the short version of the Aero Ace bus which debuted in May 2007.

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) launched a new version of the Rosa bus. The well known light bus now incorporates a series of advanced technologies. These include the world’s first light bus with dual-clutch transmission “Duonic” and the newly developed three-liter “4P10” diesel engine, which is based on a Fiat Powertrain engine block.

CHINA: JUNE BUS SALES INCREASING

The China Highway & Transportation Society's Bus Branch, citing China Bus Statistical Information Net data, said the society's 50 manufacturers posted sales of 21,376 buses in June 2011. Compared with the corresponding month in 2010, this translates into a year-on-year increase of 12.4%. Last month's sales growth was in contrast to the figures reported by the industry over the last two months. Consequently, the trend of declining sales has stopped for the time being.

SCANIA OMNIEXPRESS 3.20 DEBUTS

The new lower model Scania OmniExpress 3.20 will be a contender in the expanding short and medium distance regular service market in Europe. The two- or three-axle bus can be tailored to virtually any operator’s demands, including 12 lengths from 11 to 14.9 metres with up to 67 passengers and around 30 different interior layouts. EEV or Euro 5 engines ranging from 230 up to 440 hp are offered. As part of Scania's alternative fuel offer, the bus can be specified to run on biodiesel or ethanol, the latter a first in this segment. The optional Ecolution by Scania specification provides substantial CO2 savings for operators that are keen to promote their green profile.
