The motorcoach industry is the number one commercial people mover in the United States, accounting for 751 million passenger trips in 2007, up nearly 20 percent from the previous figure of 631 million passenger trips in 2005, according to a newly updated industry census released today by the American Bus Association.

Chinese bus-maker Zhongwei Bus & Coach Group has failed in a patent infringement lawsuit and is asked to pay more than 20 million yuan ($2.93 million) as compensation for Neoplan Bus GmbH, a subsidiary of MAN Group, a Beijing-based newspaper reported.

Icomera AB from Sweden, a provider of cellular broadband gateways, and FirstGroup plc, the UK's largest bus and coach operator, have announced the availability of free Wi-Fi Internet access on the RailAir coach service linking Heathrow Airport with Reading in the heart of the UK's technology corridor. A growing number of buses and coaches is fitted with this system, in order to enable internet access on these vehicles.
