A brand new model in the Scania Touring coach range is the 3-axle Scania Touring HD 13.7 m with 440 hp, 2,300 Nm and Scania Opticruise. The Scania Touring is built in partnership with Chinese bodybuilder Higer and the 2-axle version generated a great deal of interest at Busworld in Kortrijk. Full parts and service support is provided by the global Scania organization.

Ashok Leyland is gearing up to step up its fully-built buses' component to a higher level. Addressing a press conference after inaugurating the state-of-the-art Viralimalai facility of Irizar-TVS Limited, a three-way equal joint venture between TVS Sons Ltd., Ashok Leyland and Irizar of Spain, R. Seshasayee, Managing Director of Ashok Leyland, said 30 per cent of the buses sold by the company were built by itself at the moment. Ashok Leyland was keen to increase this percentage to 90 per cent over the next three years. During the next financial year, the company planned to take it up to 60 per cent, he said.
CHINA COACH BRANDS DOMINATE SINGAPORE PRIVATE BUS MARKET

More and more China-made buses are running on Singapore roads, with demand being fuelled by the so-called Integrated Resorts (IRs), a kind of large holiday centres, of which several are built already or under construction. The nine China bus brands active in Singapore, sold 148 units last year, or almost two-thirds of the total estimated 230 large private buses sold in Singapore in 2009.
