LANDI RENZO DEVELOPS FIRST DUAL-FUEL RETROFIT KIT FOR LIGHT VEHICLES
Landi Renzo has developed a dual-fuel kit for light vehicles with a diesel engine. It could soon be the first available dual-fuel CNG/diesel conversion kit for light-duty vehicles. Speaking at NGV 2010 in Rome on the topic of The Power of Dual-Fuel as part of the Dual-Fuel and Fuel Blends conference session, Daniele Ceccarini, Research and Development Manager, explained, “It is not a new idea. What is new is the approach, the technical approach.”
ANTONOV DEVELOPING 2-SPEED ALTERNATOR FOR HEAVY-DUTY VEHICLES
UK-based Antonov has been increasing its commercial engineering activities in parallel with becoming a high volume transmission manufacturer. The company recently secured a 2-speed heavy-duty alternator project, and is in the design phase of work on a high-efficiency 3-speed transmission for electric vehicles. Both engineering projects have the potential for series production, Antonov says.
NEW BREATHALYSERS LAUNCHED
VDO has launched the Alert J5, a new portable alcohol tester. The breathalyser uses an electrochemical sensor to detect and test personnel's alcohol levels. The device provides accurate test results in seconds and is able to store them in its built-in memory. It is also fully compatible with an optional portable printer.

ANKAI BUSES FOR SHANGHAI WORLD EXPO
Double-deckers and electric full-size buses will be supplied by Ankai to Shanghai, as part of the transportation for the World Expo. The electric buses are equipped with proprietary electric technology of lithium cells plus supercapacitor, which combination is capable of meeting the requirement of instant high power when starting or climbing and extending the service life of battery.
