MCI ALTERNATIVE-FUELED COMMUTER COACHES FOR LOS ANGELES

The Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) recently celebrated the arrival of the first of 95 new Motor Coach Industries (MCI) Commuter Coaches, powered by compressed natural gas (CNG), with a ceremony outside of the Disney Concert Hall. The new buses will be used on LADOT's "Commuter Express" service and replace 95 older, diesel powered buses. The nearly $67 million purchase also makes LADOT's Commuter Express fleet 100% CNG driven, joining its 200 "DASH" shuttle buses, which are already 100% alternatively propelled.

Sanmo Travel, a full service bus and charter travel agency located in San Francisco, ecently took delivery of six Setra TopClass S 417 luxury coaches and four Setra ComfortClass S 407 touring coaches to be added to its touring fleet for the River Rock Casino Express.

KAMAZ AND MARCOPOLO SET UP JOINT VENTURE IN RUSSIA

OJSC KAMAZ and Marcopolo S.A. have signed an agreement on a joint venture. The agreement was signed by General Director Sergey Kogogin on the part of the Russian company, CEO of Marcopolo S.A. José Rubens de la Rosa and Yuri Eduardo Caio on the part of the Brazilian company in Moscow, at the opening of the recent Comtrans exhibition.

VDL FUTURA IS "INTERNATIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR 2012"

VDL Bus & Coach has been awarded the prestigious title ‘International Coach of the Year 2012’. During the ‘Coach Euro Test 2011’, held in Norway, the Futura was chosen as the winner from a field of strong competitors. The members of the jury based their decision primarily on the total concept of the participating coaches, with special focus on practical usability, fit and finish, and efficiency. The award will be handed over during the Busworld Kortrijk exhibition.

MITSUBISHI FUSO LAUNCHES ENHANCED AERO ACE MM BUS

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) has launched a redesigned version of the Aero Ace MM bus. Designed for sightseeing and inter-city transportation, the Aero Ace MM, first launched in January 2008, is the short version of the Aero Ace bus which debuted in May 2007.
