HELSINKI WILL RUN PUBLIC TRANSPORT WITH LOCALLY PRODUCED BIOMETHANE
Gasum and the Helsinki Region Environmental Services Authority (HSY) are launching a cooperation to generate local renewable energy to fuel Helsinki Regional Transport Authority (HSL) bus fleet. The agreement includes the upgrading of biogas produced by the Suomenoja wastewater treatment plant in Espoo and its feeding into the gas network in 2012. In addition, it will increase Gasum’s biomethane supply considerably.

Peru’s public transport recently received over 120 Golden Dragon natural gas vehicles from importer Global Bus, representing this Chinese brand on the Peruvian market. The CNG-powered buses are being operated by major mass transit companies in the region.

Hydrogen really could be the energy of the future. It is renewable, abundant, and 100% environmentally friendly. Scientists at the University of Oregon have recently developed a way of storing hydrogen in a liquid form that is stable in both air and moisture, and workable at room temperature.
BYD TO PRODUCE PURE-ELECTRIC CITY BUSES IN ARGENTINA
Recently, the Argetinian Minister of Industry signed an agreement with BYD Company concerning the production of electric city buses and lithium batteries in that country.
COSLIGHT TO PRODUCE PURE ELECTRIC BUSES WITHIN TWO YEARS,
The Hong Kong-listed battery manufacturer Coslight Technology International Group Co., Ltd. (Coslight) intends to produce pure electric buses within two years, revealed Coslight chairman Song Dianquan recently. With the production lines in its Harbin base expanded, the annual battery production capacity will increase to 400,000 kWh.
