CLEANER TRUCKS AND BUSES

The European commercial vehicle industry aims to reduce NOx (nitrogen oxide) emissions by a further 80% and particulate matter by 50% compared to the current air pollution control standards for trucks in the EU. The commercial vehicle manufacturers support the most stringent scenario put forward by the EU Commission in preparation of new European pollutant emission standards, known as Euro VI.

WORLD’S FIRST SOLAR ELECTRIC BUS UNVEILED IN ADELAIDE

The Adelaide City Council is about to raise the international standard for environmentally sustainable commuter transport, with the introduction of the world’s first solar-powered electric bus. Called Tindo – the Kaurna Aboriginal word for sun – the bus is the first in the world to be recharged using 100% solar energy, generated by a unique solar photovoltaic (PV) system installed on the roof of the new Adelaide Central Bus Station.

ENOVA AND WRIGHTBUS PARTNER TO DELIVER ADDITIONAL 6 HYBRID BUSES IN LONDON, UK

Enova Systems, a developer of proprietary electric, hybrid and fuel cell digital power management systems, announced that in its continuing partnership with the Wright Group, it will provide an additional six Wrightbus Electrocity vehicles to the city of London, United Kingdom.

WELSH TRIBRID BUS

One of the technologies further  explored during the recent EVS23 electric vehicle conference in Anaheim, USA was a prototype minibus that is powered by a tribrid system using hydrogen fuel cells, lead acid batteries and ultracapacitors. This bus project is managed by Jonathan Williams at the University of Glamorgan, Wales. 

MAYBE FOLLOW-UP FOR THE LONDON ROUTEMASTER

The famous London Routemaster double-decker, dominating the public transport in the British capital for some fifty years, may get a successor, the British daily “The Times” stated recently in an article. The iconic Routemaster  open-platform bus that allowed passengers to hop on and off without waiting for the driver to release the doors, would in it’s new version also be able to carry wheelchairs and prams.
