Doubledeckers and electric full-size buses will be supplied by Ankai to Shanghai, as part of the transportation for the World Expo, which starts neginning May. In the summer of 2009, Ankai Best electric buses attracted already a lot of attention during the Dalian Davos Conference. Ankai Bus obtained an order of 14 Ankai Best electric tourist buses from Shanghai World Expo.

Ricardo announced the formation of a consortium that aims to evaluate the impact of biofuels on current and future light-duty engine technologies. Concerns about carbon emissions and energy security are said to be leading to a global increase in the use of biofuels within the traditional fuel supply chain for pump blends. In addition to this, many regions are making higher biofuel blends available to consumers that wish to use these for financial or operational reasons or through personal concern for the environment.

It appears that the possibility of passive radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags in bus and coach tires may become reality in the near future. This technology will allow tire manufacturers to electronically establish each tire’s record for inventory, service life and warranty purposes. As an added bonus, the tags should have extra memory storage to accommodate in-life programming after the tire is put into service.
LARGEST EV CHARGING STATIONS OPERATING IN SHENZHEN

China's largest electric charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) were put into service at the Universiade Center in Shenzhen's Longgang district recently, the People's Daily Online reported. The first batch of electric charging facilities in Shenzhen includes two charging stations and 134 charging poles with a combined charging capacity of 2,480 kVA. This is another major move for the southern Chinese city to speed up its development of new energy vehicles.

A project taking place in Finland could help improve safety for road users driving in the kind of conditions that wreaked havoc across Europe during December and January. The solution, developed through the EU-funded project called FRICTION, claims to allow cars to ‘see’ the road ahead, determine its condition, and calculate the amount of friction available for braking and steering.
