HYUNDAI DEVELOPS CITYBUS WITH A MILD HYBRID SYSTEM

Hyundai Motor Co., which last week announced plans to start retail sales in 2009 of hybrid electric vehicle passenger cars, has developed a cost and fuel-efficient city bus that employs a mild hybrid system based entirely on Hyundai's proprietary technology. The application of a mild hybrid system to a commercial vehicle will accelerate the wider use of eco-friendly vehicles which reduce CO2 emissions and fuel costs.

BANGALORE ORDERS 240 CITY BUSES FROM VOLVO

Volvo Buses has received an order for an additional 240 city buses to Bangalore, India. The 70 Volvo buses already in traffic in the city have enticed many inhabitants to park their cars and take the bus instead.

SOLARIS WILL SUPPLY FIRST HYBRID BUS IN POLAND TO MPK POZNAN

Representatives of Poznan municipal transport company MPK and Solaris Bus & Coach S.A. signed a contract for the supply of an innovative Solaris Urbino 18 Hybrid bus. It will be the first bus in Poland to use this state-of-the-art technology. The environmentally-friendly Solaris will arrive on the streets of Poznan in October this year.

FIRST CHINESE FUEL CELL BUS PRESENTED AT BUSWORLD ASIA 2008

At the Sunlong stand during the recently held Busworld Asia exhibition Sunlonmg and its partner Shanghai Shen-Li High Tech Co showed the first Chinese fuel-cell bus, prepared for operation in Beijing.  

YUCHAI'S EXPORT DIESEL ENGINES RECEIVE KEY EUROPEAN CERTIFICATION

China Yuchai International Limited, one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of diesel engines in China, announced recently that its subsidiary, Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Company Limited ("Yuchai"), has received key On-Board-Diagnostics ("OBD") emission certificates from the TUV Rheinland Group, a leading global sustainable development certification company. These certifications on Yuchai's Euro III and Euro IV diesel engines will provide Yuchai with an advantage compared with other Chinese diesel engine manufacturers.
