FIRST ORDER FOR NEW VOLVO 7700 HYBRID BUS
Pressinfo Volvo Buses has received its first order for the company’s new hybrid bus, Volvo 7700 Hybrid. Sales-Lentz, a bus operator in Luxembourg, has ordered six hybrid buses with delivery starting in 2009. A few weeks ago Volvo Buses launched its new Volvo 7700 Hybrid bus model. As a result of hybrid components developed by Volvo and fuel savings of up to 30%, it is an economically attractive hybrid bus.
EMITEC SCRI SYSTEM READY FOR EURO 6
Emitec has developed an integrated particulate matter (PM) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, SCRi, for light- and heavy-duty diesel applications. The SCRi combines Emitec’s partial flow filter, PM-METALIT and a new highly effective turbulent SCR catalyst into one cost-effective and maintenance-free system, that It is the first continuously operating system that reduces both particulate matter and nitrogen oxides (NOx) simultaneously, to Euro 6 levels.
TFL TRIALS AGAIN LIVE CLOSED-CIRCUIT TV ON LONDON BUSES
Transport for London has begun a six-month trial of live CCTV on a north London bus route. Twenty one Arriva double-decker buses have been fitted with technology that will allow pictures to be beamed live to the Centrecomm control centre shared by officers from Transport for London and the Metropolitan Police’s Transport Operational Command Unit.
BP SAYS BIOFUELS ACCOUNT FOR 30% OF GLOBAL TRANSPORTATION FUEL BY 2030

Based on announced targets and pending regulations, BP’s assessment is that biofuels could account for between 11 and 19% of the transport fuel market by 2030. The company also thinks there is a possibility, if the industry can address some of the land, feedstock and technology issues that exist today, for up to 30% biofuels penetration into transportation by 2030, according to Susan Ellerbusch, VP Global Biofuels for BP.
VOLVO INTRODUCES FOURTH-GENERATION HYBRID SOLUTION
Volvo is now introducing the fourth-generation hybrid solution on a broad front in buses, trucks and construction equipment. Volvo has been testing various types of hybrid solutions since the 1980s and Volvo Group unveiled the first commercially viable hybrid solution for heavy vehicles in March 2006.
