MAN Truck & Bus is consolidating all its R&D activities in the field of hybrid technology in a newly created Center of Competence, which at the same time is expanding. TM4 LAUNCHES NEW DRIVETRAIN FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLES

The Canadian company TM4, a supplier of electric powertrains, recently unveiled a new 200kW electric drivetrain. Soon, the company will start to supply its customers with new high-power motors and power electronics, using technology like a patented permanent magnet motor design and isolated gate transistors (IGBT) technology to deliver some of the industry’s highest specific power and torque densities.

UTAH'S ENERGY DYNAMICS LABORATORY QUICKLY CHARGES ELECTRIC VEHICLE

Utah State University Research Foundation's Energy Dynamics Laboratory recently operated the first high-power, high-efficiency wireless power transfer system capable of transferring enough energy to quickly charge an electric vehicle. The lightweight, low-profile system demonstrated 90 percent electrical transfer efficiency of five kilowatts over an air gap of 10 inches. The demonstration at EDL's North Logan, Utah, facility further validates that electric vehicles can efficiently be charged with wireless technology.

FIRST CHINESE EURO 6 ENGINE

The NYSE-listed China Yuchai International’s main operating subsidiary, Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Company, has produced China's first domestically-developed prototype heavy duty diesel engine compliant with Euro VI emission standards. Test results for the engine, code named YC6L-60, which was jointly developed over four years by Guangxi Yuchai engineers and researchers from Tianjin University's National Key Laboratory of engine combustion, indicate that the NOx and particulate matter emissions of the YC6L-60 were well below Euro VI limits.
