With 20,000 copies of the Citaro sold within ten production years Mercedes-Benz sets a new record. Citaro number 20,000 will be operated by travel company Pflieger Reise- und Verkehrs GmbH in Böblingen, Germany.

The 100,000th bus portal axle rolled off the line at ZF Passau GmbH, the Off-Road Driveline Technology and Axle Systems division. With this product, low floor technology - where ZF is the market leader today - found its way into buses.

In fact it was 81 years ago that Frank H. Fageol, then one of the owners of the Fageol Motor Co, and among others builder of the Fageol Safety Coach, developed the Twin Coach fully integral coach, seating 38 passenger. Some first vehicles were produced in 1927, but full-scale production started in 1928, when the Twin Coach Model 40 came on the bus market.

VDL Berkhof Heerenveen celebrated recently its 100th anniversary. The company started in 1907 under the name Rijtuig en Wagenmakerij B. Hainje. Hainje made the transfer to bus manufacture from 1922 onwards.

VOLKSWAGEN CELEBRATES NEARLY 60 YEARS OF THE BULLI

The basic lines of the Volkswagen Bulli, or the Transporter T1 as the first commercial vehicle built by the company was formally designated, were already sketched in 1947 by the Dutch Volkswagen importer Ben Pon, who ordered the first Beetle cars shortly after the production of the car was reinstated in that year.
