MAN ARTICULATED BUS CHASSIS FOR ISRAEL'S BUS RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEMS

One of Israel's largest bus operators, DAN Society for Public Transport, recently presented the first of 172 futuristically designed buses in Haifa that will form the backbone of the state-of-the-art Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems in the major cities of Haifa and Tel Aviv. MAN Truck & Bus is supplying three-axle low-floor articulated buses for this system, powered by 360-hp common-rail diesel engines that comply with the currently strictest EEV (enhanced environmentally-friendly vehicle) emission standard. The futuristic bodies of the buses, which are equipped with powerful air-conditioning systems suitable for hot climates, are manufactured locally in Israel by the Ha’argaz company.

Transport for London now introduces a new bus to replace the unpopular Mercedes-Benz Citaro articulated bus. TfL wanted the bendy bus’s replacement to pay homage to its predecessor, the Routemaster, whose distinguishing feature was an open platform at the rear allowing passengers to hop on and off.

SCANIA CITYWIDE LF AND LE LAUNCHED AT BUSWORLD

Scania Citywide is a new range of low-floor and low-entrance buses with distinctive, friendly styling that makes them readily recognisable in an urban environment. The interior has been designed to be warm and welcoming to passengers. Advanced ergonomics will appeal to drivers and the optional adjustable dashboard complies with German standards. Engines are offered for diesel, biodiesel, gas, biogas and bioethanol operation. The buses are built entirely out of aluminium to save weight and facilitate recycling.

DAEWOO LAUNCHES A NEW MODEL ON THE AUSTRALIAN MARKET

Daewoo Buses is launching the BH117L4 chassis with a Custom Coaches SB50 body at the Sydney Bus Show on October 5th and 6th 2011 at Rosehill Race Course. The display bus is the first one of the new model off the line and it is fitted with 71 traveler school bus seats. With standees, the new bus caries 100 passengers.The BH117L4 is powered by an 11 litre V6 Doosan engine, rated at 316Kw (425Hp) @ 1850 RPM  coupled to an Allison  T450R transmission.
