BIG BUS BUYS OPEN TOP DOUBLEDECKERS FROM ANKAI

The Big Bus Company is pleased to announce the addition of a small fleet of brand new buses to its Dubai fleet of sightseeing vehicles.  These new buses will enable Big Bus to operate a more frequent service, with buses departing every 15 minutes during the peak season. The buses have been custom built to Big Bus specifications by the Chinese bus manufacturer Ankai and include the latest in modern technology, digital language systems along with air conditioned cabin to ensure your ride is not only comfortable, but safe and secure.

FIRST DOUBLEDECKER BUS WITH BAE HYBRID SYSTEM FOR LONDON

A red London bus with a BAE Systems hybrid electric drive train has been delivered to Transport for London and Metrobus, one of the UK capital’s principal bus operators. The bus, a double-deck model built by Britain’s Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL), is among 17 hybrid units built by ADL and BAE Systems that will be evaluated in passenger service starting later this year.

STOCKHOLM EXPANDS USE OF BIOMETHANE BUSES

SL, the regional company responsible for bus, tram, subway and railway traffic in and around Stockholm, has announced that, by the end of 2008, it will have 80 buses running on biomethane.  Over the next four years, the company says that number will increase to 500.

LONDON’S ROUTEMASTER NEAR RESURRECTION

MAJOR ORDER FROM ARRIVA PLC FOR VDL BUS & COACH

Arriva has ordered more than 350 chassis for 2008/2009 delivery, with the option to buy further numbers for 2010/2011. This is the largest order ever placed by Arriva for right hand drive products from VDL Bus and Coach. The order consists of the SB 200 chassis, a mature and proven chassis concept with an extreme low fuel consumption.
