DOUBLE DECK BUS SERVICE LAUNCHED IN DUBAI

Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a double deck bus service, the first of its kind in the Middle East, linking Al-Ghubaiba Station in Dubai with Al-Jubail Station in Sharjah.

The Indian public and private bus transport companies and their international suppliers will meet again during next year’s Busworld India exhibition, taking place from 14th. till 16th. Januari 2009 in Mumbai, India. Most of the available exhibition space has meanwhile been booked by Indian and international suppliers – some of the exhibition space has been reserved for last-minute entrants which want to present their products to the fast changing Indian industry.

BUSES HAVE BECOME IMPORTANT PROFITCENTER FOR DAIMLER

According to calculations by the editors of the German journal Automobillwoche the bus production at among others Evobus has become a very important profitcenter for Daimler, together with the van business. The income of these two activities are strongly growing, though not fully compensating the lower revenues of car and truck manufacturing, says the journal. These two activities will add about 1.4 billion Euro to the group’s overall operative income.

The Sprinter City 65 low-floor bus, with a length of 7.7 m and seating capacity for 30 passenger seats is instantly recognisable by its unique body with a self-supporting bus skeleton structure and panoramic windows. It was recently upgraded by the manufacturer.
