LORD STOKES 1914 – 2008

Lord Stokes, former chief of British Leyland Motor Corporation, died on July 21, 2008, aged 94. Donald Gresham Stokes was the son of the Transport Manager of the Plymouth City Transport undertaking, in those days one of the clients of Leyland. By the age of 11 he knew that he wanted to work for Leyland Motors.

FREE HYBRID SHUTTLE AT TOKYO HANEDA AIRPORT

Two Japanese bus manufacturers have supplied four hybrid buses fitted with a diesel-electric driveline for free shuttle bus services at the Tokyo Haneda airport.  Hino has supplied one while Mitsubishi Fuso supplied three: these vehicles now link Haneda's first, second and international terminals, covering a distance of about 4.2 kilometers, and in one day, they may each travel up to 300 km.

TAT DEVELOPS FIRST HYBRID BUS FOR BUENOS AIRES

Argentinian bus manufacturer TAT has started developing the country’s first hybrid city bus, which will be ready coming December and uses local technology and components. The project is an initiative of the Buenos Aires Environmental Agency along with the La Plata University and bus manufacturer TAT, short for Tecnología Avanzada en Transporte, and part of the Cometrans group, which also owns a number of transportation companies.
