SCANIA PLANNING VEHICLE PRODUCTION IN IRAQ

Scania has signed an agreement in principle with the government of Iraq on assembly of trucks and buses in that country. The contract includes an initial delivery of 500 vehicles, with production starting during the third quarter of 2009. Operations will take place under the aegis of Iraq’s State Company for Automotive Industry.
ZF & YUTONG IN STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP FOR NEW BUS DEVELOPMENT

Chinese bus manufacturer Yutong Bus Co., Ltd has signed a deal for strategic cooperation with the German supplier of driveline and chassis components ZF Friedrichshafen AG. The two companies will work together with regard to new technologies and new products, to be used in coming bus generations.
WORLD PREMIERE FOR VOLVO’S DOUBLE-DECKER HYBRID

Volvo Buses is currently taking the next step in the development of its hybrid vehicles with the world premiere of the company’s new double-decker hybrid bus. The advanced parallel hybrid technology on this vehicle, unique to the Volvo Group, offers potential fuel savings, air quality improvements and significant whole-life cost reductions in operation. Six Volvo B5L Hybrid buses are due to enter service with Arriva London during the period December 2008 to January 2009 and will operate on Route 141 between London Bridge and Palmers Green.

SIEMENS INVESTS IN ISE

ISE Corporation (ISE), Siemens Venture Capital (SVC), Macquarie Clean Technology Fund (Macquarie) and DTE Energy Ventures, Inc. (DTE EV) today announced the completion of a $17.5 million equity investment in ISE, a leading supplier of advanced hybrid-electric drive systems and components for heavy-duty vehicles. The funds will be used to continue ISE’s rapidly growing sales to the transit bus marketplace in the US and Europe and the expansion of the company’s prominent energy storage systems.
