50 CNG BUSES COMMENCE SERVICE IN XIAMEN

Xiamen Bus Group, located in Xiamen, Fujian province, will shortly receive 50 CNG buses for city transportation, with more bus routes and increased frequency driving the demand, accoprding to reports in the local press. The buses are manufactured by King Long United Automotive Industry Co., Ltd, also in Xiamen and are due for delivery in August.
The buses are 10.5 meters long, with a driving range of 400 kilometers, and are of the type XMQ6891G. The acquisition of these new buses has also necessitated an immediate recruitment drive for 200 bus drivers.
According to Mr. Pan Shijian, deputy mayor of Xiamen, 50 percent of the city buses will be replaced by natural gas-fuelled buses within three to five years.
