DUTCH GOVERNMENT TO SUBSIDISE FILLING STATIONS FOR ALTERNATIVE FUEL
The Dutch Ministry of Traffic and Waterways and lower governmental institutions like provinces, regions and municipalities have decided to subsidise the installation of new filling stations for alternative fuel like biogas, ethanol (E85) and biodiesel (B30) to an amount of nearly 3,6 million euro. The largest part of this amount will be going to the erection of 53 filling points for biogas. Besides, some filling stations for E85 and B30 will be subsidized.
The usage of these alternative fules is not only considered to be better for the environment, but also should make the Netherlands less dependant of fossil fuels. Particularly stimulating the use of biogas will have a positive effect on the environment, because it reduces the CO2 emission most (80-90 percent lower) compared with diesel, but also when compared with biodiesel and ethanol. Even in comparison with CNG there is a lower emission of CO2. Problem is that the cost involved in producing biogas are higher than the production costs of fossil diesel fuel, but are considered to be lower than for fluid biofuels.
