CNHTC TO REOPEN ITS BUS BRANCH
China National Heavy Truck Corporation, als known as Sinotruck, has decided to restart its bus activities according to reports in Chinese media. In the past the company produced among others citybuses.
“In due course we will start to produce buses again, the production capacity will reach around 2,000 units in the first year, and about ten thousand when fully operational. Our aim is to become one of the best bus builders in China,” said Ma Chunji, chairman of CNHTC. There were already rumours for some time that the leading heavy truck manufacturer in China would restart its bus branch, a rumour which is now confirmed by the company itself.
CNHTC cooperates with MAN in the field of the development and production of heavy trucks, which company is obviously also involved in the bus plans. Currently their main task is to carry out the construction of the plant and ensure the technology.
At current speed, the program could be finished by the end of this year, with the bus production taken up next year and full-scale production starting in 2012.
