SMART MOVE CAMPAIGN IS GAINING WORLDWIDE MOMENTUM

Smart Move, a joint industry awareness and advocacy campaign, initiated by the International Road Transport Union (IRU) and Busworld to make buses and coaches the foremost means of public transport and in so doing achieve sustainable mobility for all as well as meet ambitious environmental and road safety targets, is gaining worldwide momentum.

The China Road Transport Association (CRTA) joined the rapidly expanding Smart Move Partners’ club. CRTA will contribute to translating and disseminating the Smart Move messages and materials in Chinese language and will take care of the translation of the Smart Move website in Chinese. The regional launch of the Smart Move campaign will take place in Shanghai, within the framework of Busworld Asia, 6-8 May 2010.

The Smart Move objective will be met through the active promotion of the much greater use of bus and coach transport throughout Europe and the rest of the world. Smart Move will seek to lobby policy makers at all levels across Europe and its member states to make sure they are made fully aware of just how safe, environmentally friendly, affordable, user-friendly and efficient buses and coaches really are.

Officially launched at Busworld Kortrijk on 14 November 2009, Smart Move aims to secure the largest possible involvement, endorsement and support from the bus and coach community in Europe and worldwide as well as manufacturers, suppliers and all professionals and individuals who share the same visions and campaign objectives.

Meanwhile, another industry heavyweight – Euro Bus Expo - joined the prestigious list of Smart Move partners. Smart Move will form an integral part of the EBE marketing programme for 2010 activities and will be given a valuable promotional platform in the UK, Europe and world-wide. This commitment will involve the promotion of the Smart Move messages and logos in all EBE advertising and marketing materials leading up the show. In addition there will be details about Smart Moves on the EBE website. This will culminate in an EBE presence complete with dedicated stand, Smart Move branding and readily available information for exhibitors at Birmingham’s NEC on 2-4 November, 2010, staffed by IRU and Busworld personnel who will be on hand to provide information to exhibitors and visitors throughout the duration of the show.
