Published at 01.02.2010 in International developments, Vehicle news

Yutong Bus, the biggest Chinese bus builder which last year produced 28,625 small, medium and large buses and coaches, is going to install a new bus assembly line with a capacity of for 20,000 units, increasing the capacity with about 70% to a total annual output of 50,000 units. The company has meanwhile bought another 140 hectares of land to establish the new assembly line project, which has been approved by the Board.

Aim is to produce high-end tourism coaches, buses and city buses in this new plant.

According to Yutong Bus financial statement, 28,625 large, medium and small buses and coaches were produced in 2009, up 6.45% year on year. If the new assembly line is taken into use, it will mean for Yutong Bus that is strengthened its position as one of the main Chinese bus manufacturers.

Main target is to increase the export of buses and coaches during the coming years. Recently, the company shipped 240 vehicles to Cuba, and it received a European WVTA certificate for one of its coaches. Dutch vehicle inspection officials from the RDW, one of the agencies of the Dutch Ministry of Transportation issued the homologation for the Yutong ZK6129H/ZK6119HA coach after a two-day’s audit, which covered checking the vehicle construction, parts and components quality, the vehicle’s safety aspects and the conformity with the compulsory European technical directives.

After this homologation, the whole vehicle and its individual components may be offered in any EU member country and in associated countries like Switzerland. The stringent European approval procedure sets rather high standards on emission volumes, safety performance, as well as environmental protection, and is one of the three worldwide automotive approval systems together with American and Japanese counterpart approval systems.
