NAVISTAR TO INVEST IN DANISH EXHAUST GAS CLEANING TECHNOLOGY
Press Release With Navistar’s choice of Advanced EGR to satisfy 2010 EPA emissions standards, the company needed a technology that could help reduce NOx emissions. It’s found that solution in the form of the Amminex solution. The American truck and bus manufacturer has reached agreement to purchase an interest in Amminex, a Danish company that provides a metal ammine-based NOx reductant delivery system.
Press ReleaseAmminex is currently conducting joint development programs with several leading automotive companies and the Amminex ASDS is considered a viable technology. Navistar has demonstrated its strong commitment to bring the technology to market in an industrial scale by acquiring an interest in Amminex. The Company’s ammonia storage and delivery systems (ASDS) enables an efficient removal of harmful NOx (nitrogen oxides) gases from diesel engine exhaust. This allows for an increase in share of clean diesel powered vehicles and benefitting from the high fuel efficiency of diesels. Amminex offers another tool for Navistar to explore cost-effective, customer-friendly technologies that fits its Advanced EGR platform, meeting emissions requirements while removing the burden liquid urea places on the industry. The Amminex technology meshes well with Navistar’s approach, the company said, allowing the OEM to be responsible for NOx reduction with no outside influences needed.
The Company is also developing applications of its core energy storage technology for fuel cells. The Amminex 500W carbon free power generator will be displayed at the global Fuel Cell Expo in Tokyo in the beginning of March 2010.
Amminex recently raised DKK 150 mill. in connection with a capital increase by existing investors: SEED Capital, Nordea Foundation, Conduit Ventures and Yasuda Enterprise Development Company as well as by Navistar.
