10,000TH FUTURA DELIVERED BY VDL BUS & COACH
VDL Bus & Coach has reached a major milestone with the delivery of the 10,000th Futura. On Friday, 10 October 2008, this extraordinary coach was handed over by Wim van der Leegte, Chairman of the Board of Management of the VDL Groep, to Harz-Weser-Werkstätten. Director Christoph Lorbacher and Head of the Workshop Heinz-Gundolf Rech travelled to VDL BOVA in Valkenswaard on behalf of Harz-Weser-Werkstätten to receive the keys and the coach officially.
The 10,000th Futura is a FLD 104-365 with a length of 10.4 metres, 42+1+1 seats and is fitted with a DAF PR 265 S Euro 4 model engine. This vehicle, which is now the 9th Futura FLD for Harz-Weser-Werkstätten, is also fitted with an extra-wide door with a lift for the handicapped. The shorter 10.4 metre version was chosen for its even better turning circle.
After 26 years in production, the sales figures for the Futura, the classic among coaches in the middle class segment, have remained continuously at a high level. It is a unique attainment in the coach world to produce 10,000 copies of a single model over such a long period of time.
The completely characteristic design of the Futura is just as recognizable now as in 1982. Trustworthiness, reliability and comfort combined with a high residual value have made a major contribution to the good reputation which the Futura has established over the years.
