KNORR-BREMSE LAUNCHES ACTIVE SERVICE CONCEPT
Knorr-Bremse Commercial Vehicle Systems launched at the Automechanika trade fair its Active Service concept focussing on an improved service across the entire aftermarket value-added chain for among others bus braking systems.
Under the name of Active Service, Knorr-Bremse has put together a comprehensive package of services for distributors, workshops, fleet managers and drivers aimed at ensuring across-the-board quality during the entire life cycle – from product development to vehicle operation and servicing. Active Service is designed not just for products already on the market but also with an eye to the future: As soon as a new product is launched, Knorr-Bremse will offer a well-designed service concept to go with it. Part of the service is the NEO System Diagnostics.
In 2007, Knorr-Bremse launched this new generation of diagnostic tools for vehicle electronic systems that enables workshops to carry out maintenance and repair work on all current vehicle systems simply, rapidly and professionally. The NEO diagnostic platform and associated software is designed along modular lines and comes in a number of versions ranging from an introductory package to one with a full range of functions according to the particular needs of the workshop.
The main feature of NEO Green is its ability to communicate with the electronic system via the diagnostics interface, NEO Orange also offers a semi-automatic measuring function, and the full version – NEO Blue – automatically recognizes systems and offers a full range of rapid diagnostic functions as well as detailed, automated systems analysis. The latest development in the field of NEO System Diagnostics is a software update for the Knorr-Bremse EBS 5 electronic braking system, which will be available from October 2008.
The Knorr-Bremse Group manufactures among others braking systems for buses. Other lines of business include automatic door systems, rail vehicle air conditioning systems and torsional vibration dampers for internal combustion engines. In 2007 the Group posted sales of EUR 3.25 billion and employed a workforce of some 14,000.
