PIRELLI DPF PILOT PROJECT LAUNCHED IN BEIJING
The Italian Ministery for the Environment has signed an agreement with the Municipality of Beijing to launch a pilot project in the Chinese capital to test particulate filter technology from Pirelli Eco Technology, a division of tire manufacturer Pirelli.
The Italian based company claim their particulate filter system currently used in China, can reduce harmful emissions from
diesel engines by more than 95%.
Their filter systems can be retrofitted and are currently being used on public transport vehicles, company cars and private vehicles in Italian cities. The systems have recently also been made available in the UK, Germany and the Netherlands. Production of the devices is planned to increase, with the company's factory in Gorj, Romania, expanding. Additionally, a possible partnership with Russian Technologies for the production of the equipment in Russia would boost production.
