SMRT CORPORATION CHOOSES MERCEDES-BENZ BLUETEC 5 DIESEL TECHNOLOGY

Published at 16.05.2008 in Public transport, Technology

Singapore’s public transport company SMRT has ordered 66 Mercedes-Benz BlueTec city buses with reduced exhaust emissions and diesel consumption through advanced technology and environment-friendly engines

With this order she has become the first corporation in South-East Asia to use Mercedes-Benz urban buses featuring BlueTec 5 to provide local public transport services. This move marks the first adoption by the Asian market of BlueTec diesel technology, which Daimler has already introduced extremely successfully in Europe, and which offers significant reductions in diesel consumption and exhaust emissions. In ordering 66 Mercedes-Benz city buses which meet the stringent Euro 5 exhaust standard, Singapore's SMRT Corporation is assuming a pioneering role and setting new standards in South-East Asia. SMRT announced this initiative at the recent presentation of its "SMRT is green" campaign.
