YUCHAI POWERS 140 NEW QINGHAI BUSES AND COACHES

With the New Year around the corner, to ensure the travel safety of citizens during the Spring Festival, the passenger transport companies in Qinghai have successively added 140 small and large-sized new vehicles to their fleets. In the new vehicle bid, Yuchai made a clean sweep with orders of 140 engines, of which the order of 48 YC6L330 engines and the order of two YC6M375 engines were of great importance to Yuchai, showing its strength in the coach market, and the fast rise of Yuchai heavy engines in Qinghai.
HYBRID VDL BUS & COACH CITEAS FOR THE DUTCH CITY OF ENSCHEDE

At the beginning of December 2010, the Dutch city of Enschede presented two hybrid Citeas. These are Citea buses with a length of 12 metres and a completely flat floor. Starting February 2011 these Citeas will be put in regular service.. Over a period of two years, information will be collected concerning the operational characteristics and achieved sustainability results.
SEOUL STARTS COMMERCIAL OPERATION OF BATTERY ELECTRIC BUSES

The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) has started commercial operation of full-size battery electric buses on the Mt. Namsan circular routes. SMG has worked on the project to develop full-sized electric buses with local technology over the last one and a half years since signing an agreement with Hyundai Heavy Industries and Hankuk Fiber for the development of electric buses in September 2009.
US AND SWISS RESEARCHERS DEVELOP REACTOR TO MAKE FUEL FROM SUNLIGHT

Researchers have created a simply reactor that mimics plants by turning sunlight into fuel. The process, which has been demonstrated in the laboratory, boosts hopes for a large-scale renewable source of liquid fuel. The findings appear in the most recent edition of the journal Science.

Eaton Corporation, among others active in the development of hybrid power systems for commercial trucks and buses, today announced that customers of its hybrid systems have collectively accumulated more than 100 million miles of service, reducing fuel consumption by 4 million gallons of diesel fuel and harmful emissions by 40,000 metric tons.
