MAN ANNOUNCES JOINT VENTURE WITH PON FOR FRANCE AND BENELUX MARKETS

MAN Nutzfahrzeuge has announced a joint venture agreement for sales, distribution and servicing in France and the Benelux countries with Pon, its Dutch market distributor for the past 27 years. The partnership will see Pon responsible for MAN trucks and engines as well as MAN and Neoplan buses and bus chassis in France, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.

MAYBE FOLLOW-UP FOR THE LONDON ROUTEMASTER

The famous London Routemaster double-decker, dominating the public transport in the British capital for some fifty years, may get a successor, the British daily “The Times” stated recently in an article. The iconic Routemaster  open-platform bus that allowed passengers to hop on and off without waiting for the driver to release the doors, would in it’s new version also be able to carry wheelchairs and prams.

NEW VAN HOOL FUEL CELL BUS FOR STREETS OF CONNECTICUT

A new bus acquired by locally-based transportation firm Dattco is expected to be the first of its kind to service the city of Connecticut when it hits the streets in 2008. The Van Hool TD925 double deck coach, which is powered by fuel cells, will be the first double-decker to operate in Connecticut when it is deployed next year, it has been reported.

DAIMLER ANNOUNCES ORDERS FOR 1,052 ORION VII NEXT GENERATION DIESEL-ELECTRIC HYBRID BUSES

Daimler Buses North America has received orders totalling 1,052 Orion VII Next Generation diesel-electric hybrid transit buses from some of North America’s largest transit authorities. MTA New York City Transit has ordered 850 and the City of Ottawa (OC Transpo) 202 Orion VII Next Generation diesel-electric hybrid transit buses.
